She also serves as a STEM Girls Ambassador, Cabinet Office, and project researcher of Graduate School of Mathematical Sciences The University of Tokyo. She won the gold medal as the first Japanese woman in the International Mathematical Olympiad. Diya Nagserves as The Asia Foundation’s director for Strategy and Development for theCambodia office. As an experienced international development professional andtrained lawyer, Diya is passionate about a growing and developing Asia withequal access to opportunities for all, and about applying a gender and socialinclusion lens to all programs.

In hercurrent role, she provides high-level strategic advice and guidance to programimplementation in key areas of the Foundation’s programming in Cambodia and theregion including governance, gender equality, inclusive economic growth throughbridging gaps in access to digital technology, and environmental resilience.She is also responsible for leading on strategic communications businessdevelopment, and ensuring programs achieve high impact and results throughrobust monitoring, learning, and evaluation, and adaptive managementapproaches. She was previously the governance and legal specialist in Cambodia,working extensively on a large knowledge sector program. Before that, she wasassociate director of Programs with the Foundation’s office in New Delhi, Indiawhere her achievements included growing the Foundation’s programming in theareas of urban governance, regional trade and cooperation, and future of work.

Prior tojoining the Foundation, Diya worked at the UNDP in India on improving justicedelivery and legal reform, engaging closely with the Indian government andjudiciary to improve access to justice for marginalized groups. She also spenttime at the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI) in New Delhi working onSouth Asia’s human rights advocacy on police and prison reforms at theCommonwealth level, and leading CHRI’s communications plan.
